A helping hand, given with dignity.

Emmacel Foundation has walked with the communities of the Shama District since 2010 — from interest-free loans for women in trade to STEM scholarships, support for the aged and community infrastructure.

Who we are

A Ghanaian non-profit, born in a church at Shama Junction.

Emmacel Foundation is a Ghanaian non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 2010 and incorporated in Ghana by the Registrar General's Department. We are based in Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana.

Emmacel Foundation seeks to provide educational assistance to the less privileged, support the aged, and strengthen communities through infrastructure development and women empowerment. The Foundation also supports girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and skills training.

Our story

From underground giving to a registered foundation.

Engaging in humanitarian activities that provide long-term support and promote human dignity has always been our founder's passion — supporting vulnerable people and communities to identify opportunities and challenges, and to work on them in ways that advance sustainable social transformation.

That passion led to the birth of Emmacel Foundation. The Foundation started in 2010 at Shama Junction Methodist Church. Its first goal was to support women in trade with interest-free loans to grow their businesses and improve their standard of living. Educational support followed — assistance at the tertiary level and support for youth in apprenticeship — and later, support for the aged and infrastructural development.

The Foundation was registered officially in 2019 to extend its humanitarian work to the catchment communities. Today, students supported by the Foundation are reading science at the tertiary level, and support for the aged and infrastructure development is ongoing. Beneficiaries are selected based on their financial conditions.

We currently work in communities across the Shama District of the Western Region — Shama Junction, Nyanekrom, Nkwata, Komfueku, Gravildo, Kumasi Kakrabamu, Inchaban, Aboadze and Abasi — with the aim of extending across the whole of Ghana: bringing aid to the less privileged, supporting the aged, advocacy and campaigns, health checks, women empowerment and infrastructural development.

Emmacel Foundation is licensed under Ghana’s Non-Profit Organisation Policy (2020) by the Non-Profit Organisation Secretariat, Department of Social Welfare, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

We protect, inspire and develop the marginalized, poor and the needy, by providing them with a helping hand as well as infrastructure assistance to help them improve their standard of living.
